it is snowing!
i cannot believe it...
it is snowing again!
cats and dogs to be precise.
apparently it is not to snow so much here but who cares if it is pretty.
the weirdest thing is, the eastern part of canada (toronto, montreal etc), where their winters are infamously harsh, is at least 9degreeC above their expected temperature in winter! for example, toronto is expected to be -8 now but is 8 ha ha ha. everyone is wondering what the XXX is happening.
aren't you glad the rainy season is over in singapore and you can go to school/work dry?

it has been 3 weeks!
yup, time flies.
your school holidays are coming to an end soon.
hope you have had a fulfilling time and has rested well.
it has been nice and cold here.
i cant sweat unless i exercise and make my heart rate go up...
no sun for me, at least i am all covered up when i am out,
so i think i am getting whiter by the day...eeeeeeee white me?
life as a housewife can be pretty interesting,
doing nothing can make one quite busy you know ha ha.
i should start looking for a job soon after the holidays
in case my ass gets bigger from eating and sitting.
meanwhile, i try to enjoy the wild, the nature, the green and all the CSI i can get.

20/20!
and without contacts or glasses! i got my lasik op about 24 hours ago and i am loving every minute of it!
there was no pain at all. want me to describe the process? if yes, read on, if not skip to next paragraph.
after the pre-op evaluation, i was found to be suitable candidate and i immediately asked for an op asap, the same day if possible ha ha pity i could only get it done the following day. anyway, when i arrived for the op, a lady first explained the eye drop procedure for post op care, sounded complicated but realised not that bad after all. After 2 guys checked my eyes, one of them the doctor whom i met for first time (similar checks the day before), i was asked to wait in a pre-op room. then suddenly it is time, so anti-climax, no warning, not reassurance...the nurse asked me to put on a "shower cap" got me to lie down on the bed. explained i have to stare at the red lights, one blinking one not, but eventually during the op, both combines. then another nurse came and put numbing drops, luckily she put them like no need money like that so i didnt feel much at all. so both eyes numbed, both closed and covered. then suddenly heard doc's voice and he asked me to open right eye. so now it really starts, he never even asked if i was ready! so anti-climax...ok here goes my right eye, first he inserts in the retainers to prevent eye from shutting, it felt like a mini tongs that open outwards that pops into the top and bottom of the lids (eeeeeeeeeeeee) no pain, just weird discomfort. then puts in a tape on the top lid to hold the upper lid from closing i think. now comes the most scary part! he puts in the suction thingy the sucks up the eyeball, this one can feel tension. then all goes black. cant feel anything except the tension on the ball. then when light comes in again, apparently the cornea has been cut! so can see him coming in with tweezers to well, tada! open up my cornea!!! immediately the blinking red light go blur. all the way they put lots of donno wat eye drops, cold and cold. ok after the flap has been flipped, the laser starts, no feeling at all, just stare at the big patch of blinking red light, cant see anything else, all blur. got the zap zap sound and burnt smell ha ha i wanted to asked if they are cooking me! but decided not to distract them. my right eye zap 20s, left eye zap 25s. then once cooked, more drops. tweezers bring the flap back and can actually see him "sweep" the cornea flat to remove all air bubbles hee hee hee no discomfort at all. more drops. then out comes the tape, and the retainers. more drops, close and cover up. at this moment i thought to myself, should i make a run for it, before they cook my left eye ha ha ha but anyway before they started, more no-need-money numbing drops on the left. the right feels nothing. and the whole proceedure starts for the left eye. just as cooked as the right yum yum! after that they make me sit up and walk to an gadget where they check the flap and the closure, i could actually see the way although it was blur! so he saw a lash in the left eye and used a tweezer to pick it out ha ha imagine a lash half under cornea and half sticking out! cool and er... ticklish? so ya then went to a recovery room where you relax for 30min eyes closed.
after 30min in the recovery room, the doc came into check my eyes again and gave me the green light to go home after showing me how to adminster eye drops to myself (i am quite an expert now you know). i stayed for a while to observe the ongoing op, it was PRK, where they scrape the cornea off then a contact lens protects wound vs lasik where a flap is cut then covered back. wah, the brush they used to "brush" off the cornea was like those tiny paint brushes you use for painting delicate corners ha ha ha ha so ya then i realised i could SEE! i felt like i had some clouded contacts or glasses on, good vision but blurred. it got better through the evening and i even went to a nice restaurant for dinner hee hee i was good and kept lubricating the eyes every half hour (this has to be done for the next 3-4 months every 3 hourly). i slept with eye protectors, think the FLY.
this morning, man... this morning, i could see the moment i opened them! i can see clearly now! i cannot believe it! still little cloudy feel but of my gosh! it has been wonderful! i couldnt believe it and kept testing my eyes at signs and numbers! ha ha the post op check up was perfect and was told to return 2 weeks later.
so ya the whole op was painless, more the imagination and the fact that they are cutting and not forgetting cooking your eyes that makes us comfortable. but hey relax and so soon, and anti climatically, it was all over. ha ha i am so glad i got it done finally.

Say Thank You to the BUS DRIVER
have you ever said, "thank you" to any SBS bus drivers?
well, i definitely have never, well, maybe a couple of times,
after i asked him, "how much to XXX?"
and that was about it.
here in vancouver,
everyone says, "thank you!" loudly before they alight!
can you imagine it?
i did my virgin bus ride and found that out myself this afternoon.
i tried it myself,
"you're welcome!" came the reply :)
hey, i felt good, he felt good, win-win situation isn't it?
perhaps we should have a "say thank you to your friendly SBS bus driver" campaign in singapore!
then less of us will have to run after prematurely departuring buses hee hee
we had one of the heaviest snow fall in vancouver over the weekend.

cars were stuck,
schools were closed,
working people had legitimate reasons to stay home ;)
kids were building snowmen and igloos! i thought i see that only in movies!
fields covered in a blanket of white... so rolla-licious hee hee
best of all, watching the snow flakes fall...
turning everywhere black and white, so surreal.
the snowy weekend has definitely sprung me back to life.
funny it takes -7degreesC to have this effect on me...
i hope the worst for me here is over.
no more mopping around in the house,
no more jet lag, no more frozen fingers,
get up, get out and get living!

i am here!
5 degrees C?
no wonder i am hiding at home,
where the heater keeps the room at a comfortable 22 degrees C.
tucked nicely posting this while warming my hands on a cup of hot milk.
that's cosy?
not if you have only just arrived from where people run in shorts and practically nothing on top.
i had to run in my full armour: cap, windproof top (with 2 layers under) and windproof pants.
next time i have to add a beanie and a scarf to block the chill from my face.
but a consolation was that i could run anytime of the day,
no more fear of the scorching sun zapping my energy.
can you believe i went running at 130pm?
typically i would be hiding indoors back at the equator...
arrived here on sun evening and finally conjured up courage to step out in the cold for the run.
only on wed.
a good start i think.
i will get used to this, i am trying.
adjusting to a freezing autumn/winter is no joke when summer was all you knew.
should have listened to everyone and put on 10kg before this trip.
ha ha excess baggage.
the sun rose at 745am this morning and looks set return home soon...
it is only 330pm...
bedtime!
